Need for speed: part deux

Yes, speed drills! 5 minutes on any topic, with 10 min research! I like these.

Can't remember how I got on last time but probably not so well. Speed has never been my strength in the exercise world, and it's just an exercise in the writing world for me. Just to get warmed up.

I have started to wonder about nourishment and the soul. Where is my soul? How can I nourish it if I don't know what it is, what it looks like, what it feels like? Is it that warm fuzzy feeling when I hug my cat? Is it that feeling when I hug my partner? Is it a thing really that I can touch, move and affect? Some believe it is a "more than a sum of parts" answer, and can have a biological basis. Others, well, you know the Others... religious ones.

I particularly like the Deus Ex Machina idea and literary concept. Because it allows that omniscient writer being to create "plausible miracles". These are usually external, but internally the ghost in my machine often makes me do wonderful things. I don't know why I would do it given my character, but it happens. Little miracles if you will. Soul and character, are they linked? If so, then the soul evolves and can be changed and nourished, just like the phenotypes of my character's "genetic predispositions".

More on this another time! I have used up my five minutes!!
