Squid News

[Please note: following story not meant to be 100% accurate, just entertaining a bit and letting you know about Paul.]

Last June, we all eschewed calamari. Why? Not because the crops in June are more chewy than in October. Perhaps it is fitting that Paul the Octopus met his maker in October after 2 ½ years of service, the height of which was during the World Cup 2010 in South Africa. Paul was a meek and tepid sea-going cephalopod who lived in Berlin, alone in his tank. In a friendly joking way, his owner matched him up with some countries flags, the flags of the football teams that were playing in the World Cup. Paul picked the winners.

Dubbed the psychic squid, people all around the world were enthralled by Paul. The Spanish nicknamed him Pablo. There was some talk of when Spain won the title, that Pablo should live out the rest of his days in Spanish waters. But that was not to be. Paul died quietly amongst his German family and friends and was given a spicy burial.
