Failure, Success and Learning

“Failure is only an opportunity to begin more intelligently.” – Henry Ford
“Success usually comes to those who are too busy to be looking for it.” – Henry David Thoreau
“What we have to learn to do, we learn by doing.” – Aristotle

Last week (8): Story Focus or Not

These three quotes quite summarize my experiences this year with a weekly theme.

Clearly I have to begin more intelligently. Apparently, I am not busy enough and I must do more to learn my job well. Going to back to my training analogy, I feel like I have been going through this re-invention with some sort of “block” injury and not really motivated to train hard and harder. I got to get over this “block” and find my passion again.

I thought about my Story Focus. But I didn’t write on it, enough. Thinking is not doing. I have to begin more intelligently and write, start my day earlier, and write first, before all the worries and hassles of the day get to me. It will make me more busy, to write earlier, and I will learn more (I hope)!

I somehow managed to miss my 2-year anniversary of blogging! Well, perhaps that is a success in itself. I didn’t go looking for it, it just happened. I have my 4-year anniversary with my partner coming up too. That will be a nice celebration :-)

This week (9): Dialogue, playwriting

Stretch!! Actor stage right. Says: “Welcome, to the land of Cheese!”

I’ve been wanting to write a little play for an upcoming event end of July. I got some actor/friends who I hope to play the roles. So, this is perfect. I get to stretch my writing and do something fun for my event. Hey, even if it doesn’t work out, I will have learned something!

Next week (10): Back to work

I do a lot of editing in my professional work, including editing journalistic articles. It’s a challenge, but I want to write more in a more journalistic style. I have some home-study course materials, but just like everything else, I need to carve out time to do it. Next week, I’ll do just that.

It’s a good time for "getting back to work" too, as soon the theme cycle will start over again and I need to get some feedback from others on what I am doing right, and what I should focus on improving. Unfortunately, I won’t meet my first “training” contest/event submission, but that’s okay. I understand that my injury held me back. The goal posts can move a bit to account for this. I am not worried. I can still work hard. I won’t quit.
