I'm still struggling to understand what it all means, the global economic crisis.
If not a single bank in the world gives out loans for the next 3-6 months or even a year, perhaps a lot of things will be on hold. Small business and big business alike will not be able to invest in growth strategies and will be "forced" to lay off people. How much unemployment can the market bear? 10%? 20%? I think it was between 20 -30% during the Great Depression.
I dabble in the stock market with less diversification that I probably should have but I don't have any outstanding loans nor do I plan to take out any loans in the near future (2-3 years). It is my savings and earnings I am worried about that might be worth nothing tomorrow. But here's how I see it:
Everything can be taken away from us, but I still have me, and my partner, we have each other. And that is a lot. We're both very resilient people and bounce back when the world hits us down. Sure it might mean we'll have to wait longer than 5 years for some of our dreams to come true, and work harder to get the money "lost" through no fault of our own. I am strong and have faith that this hardship is all temporary (10-15 years maximum) before something else comes along to correct it. It will be hard, but we will not "suffer". We'll be stronger and leaner for it. We're ready. Millions of people who aren't ready and have less than us at this moment may suffer, if they don't have the right frame of mind.
I guess I am used to having my dreams on hold?
Nah, I am just too happy to permit trouble like this into my soul. I'll post my "promise" list later and link it to this week's mantra.
