Fasnacht festivities have begun in Basel and all over Europe. Apparently, it's an old Roman tradition to party in the winter and change roles from the every day. Masks and strange costumes that you wouldn't even recognize your neighbor, confetti everywhere, and jolly happy people despite the weather. It is actually a hobby and social thing for most revelers, year round to prepare for these 3 beautiful days.
This year, I am trying to avoid getting caught up in it all. We'll see how that will pan out. I have some achievements I want to try to make this month, and it's going to be a close one as I am already 8 days behind. German, Work, Health, Writing, and Comfort: they seems to be my top 5 priorities, followed then by everything else. I think I need to shake it around a bit though, as my training is getting too lazy and comfortable in each of those areas. What is Comfort you say? Yeah, I do have some habits that I keep that aren't really conducive to growth.
Perhaps for next week, my priorities should be:
- Growth
- Writing
- German
- Health
- Work
So, what is Growth? I think it is taking risks and doing things that make me "fearless" sometimes and challenge my comfort zone. Let's take a moment from some random but inspirational quote:
"If you're not a little bit uncomfortable on a daily basis it means you're not growing. Every aspect of physical and emotional growth arrives from outside your comfort zone. So be fearless sometimes. Have the courage to take the risks that feel right. Go where there are no certainties. Stretch yourself and your routines even if it means feeling a bit uncomfortable. The road less traveled is sometimes laden with potholes, bumps, and unexplored territory. But it is on this road where your strength grows and your dreams gradually reveal themselves."
No more fears!!
