The first day of the rest of my life

Here I am again, writing, and today -- a poem of mine will be published in a local community newsletter. OK, to qualify this: I was the guest (ghost) editor and we needed a chunky but nice piece of artwork. So, being the maverick nutter that I am - and, of course, to save time - I did it myself. The poem was written over 4-5 days, and I am quite happy with it. I will post it here later on this month.

So, I am quite excited and nervous. How will it be received? Will people read it? Will people come here to see the blog? What will it mean for me? Will it open any doors? Am I ready for that??

Well, questions aside, I have chosen, actually a long time ago. It was chosen for me. This is my destiny I truly believe now. To build a life, not simply earn a living. I am a writer and professional volunteer. I am an activist and political beast. I have something to say, and by "spaghetti noodle" I will get it out. Even if it kills me.

I now understand what exactly is a "labour of love" ;)

"Once you decide on your occupation... you must immerse yourself in your work. You have to fall in love with your work. Never complain about your job. You must dedicate your life to mastering your skill. That's the secret of success... and is the key to being regarded honorably."
