oh monday monday

I hope you enjoyed the four-part series story. I learned a lot about writing in the process.

I think that's the point -- you learn by doing. Just keep at it, keep doing. You can study, brush up on your skills, say you'll have a good attitude, but in the end it is all just PRACTICE. Every day. Practice. For one day, it will be for real. For the tournament, for the big game against a rival team or player, for the scout watching in the stands. Practice should be fun, not a tedious chore. Training, practice, building up strengths, building up you skills. The stakes are high, but you are stronger than the fear.

I have to work on endings. I have trouble with endings, even in the books I read. I suppose every author has trouble with endings, wanting to say too much, or expecting too much out of the reader.

Well, I have to practice. There's no shortcuts, there's no way out of it. The only way out is through. Dig in deeper.

I've re-arranged my office so I am not constantly starting out at the potentially beautiful weather. I have my little pictures to look at, as well as my reference materials, stuffed toys and cat clock. Papers piled up left and right. I really ought to get another bookshelf. But for now, the floor will just have to do. This is my environment, this is my playing field. I like it.

I am about two weeks' (and a day) behind my planned schedule so bear with me. I had a nasty cold and took a lot of time off. I was reading though, so next week I'll post some deconstruction of some stories I've read (what I liked, what I didn't like, what techniques used, etc.).

Tuesday is the new Monday!
