poetry: the succinct

Out of the many online writing advices I've come across, here's something special. Reading poetry can actually improve your prose writing. Why? Poetry at its best conveys a picture or scene clearly with the least amount of words. It is the succinct that is so appealing, every word is critical. For example, Haiku -- typically composed of three non-rhyming lines of 5, 7, 5 syllables -- still manages to convey a snapshot and even evoke feeling and meaning.

Anyway, here is my flash haiku:

Quiet construction
lift away the drum inside
crave noise once more

What do you think? Does it mean anything to you?

Ick? I could do better, but that was 10 minutes. Flash.
